About MariaDB ColumnStore
MariaDB ColumnStore is a Distributed, Columnar an Massively Parallel storage engine. It is open source, distributed under the terms of the GPL version 2.
It is designed for big data scaling to process petabytes of data, linear scalability and exceptional performance with real-time response to analytical queries. It leverages the I/O benefits of columnar storage, compression, just-in-time projection, and horizontal and vertical partitioning to deliver tremendous performance when analyzing large data sets.
The initial name of the project was InfiniDB. It was built by a third party as a separate technology, designed to work with MySQL. InfiniDB 4.6.7 was ported to MariaDB and made open source. From MariaDB 10.5.4, ColumnStore is available as a storage engine for MariaDB.
